Link Your Playlists
A server address is long, fussy and easy to get wrong — and typing it into every phone and tablet you use gets old fast. LinkACode turns it into a short code, and Vizi takes the code anywhere it would take the address.
What LinkACode does
LinkACode is a service that lets a short code stand in for a server address — the part of a playlist sign-in sometimes called the DNS or the URL. Instead of media.example.net:8080 you enter something like AB123456, and LinkACode tells the app which address the code stands for.
Vizi supports LinkACode codes. Where Vizi asks for a server address, a code works just as well.
Adding a playlist with a code
- Get a code at linkacode.com and point it at your server's address.
- In Vizi, open Add Playlist. In the box labelled “Playlist URL, or LinkACode.com ID”, type the code — or tap the scanner beside it and scan the code's card.
- Enter your username and password for that server, just as you would with the full address. Vizi looks the code up, connects, and brings in your playlist.
Why use a code
On as many devices as you like
One code works on every device you set up. Add it on your phone, your tablet and anything else running Vizi — a short code each time, instead of the whole address.
Scan it instead of typing it
Every code comes with a card showing the code and a QR code. Vizi's scanner reads it straight off the card, so there is nothing to type at all.
Always where the code points
Vizi looks the code up again every time it refreshes your playlist, so it always connects to the address the code stands for now — with nothing to re-enter on each device.
The address stays out of sight
Vizi never shows the address behind a code: not in your playlist's name, not in lists, not in error messages. On screen, it is just the code.
Good to know
- Your username and password are your server's. You enter them in Vizi as usual, and they are never sent to LinkACode.
- Codes work with Xtream Codes sign-ins — a server address with a username and password. For an M3U link, add the link itself.
- A code is a shortcut to an address and nothing more. It comes with no content, and it is for a server you run or are authorised to use.
Privacy
When you add a playlist with a code, Vizi sends the code — and only the code — to linkacode.com to look up the address. There is more in our privacy policy.
